  • The YES! (Youth Energy Summit) Team is in the process of using some of its award monies obtained last spring toward the installation of two Elkay EZH20 Bottle Filling Stations for Sleepy Eye Public and St. Mary’s Schools.

The retro fit design works with a standard drinking fountain so that students, staff and visitors can fill water bottles rather than buying plastic water bottles that may not be recycled and/or are placed in the trash, ending up in the landfill.

The hydration station has a visual filter monitor, and fill rate of 1.1-1.5 gpm’s. The YES! Team plans to use its feature of a green ticker, that informs the users of the number of 16 oz. bottles saved from landfills.

Sleepy Eye Public’s station is located on the first floor across from the high school administration offices so there is easy and quick access for the public and the athletes and fans alike using the gym and for students and staff throughout the day and evening activities.

The public’s hydration station was installed by Schanus Plumbing and Heating Inc. of New Ulm volunteering time to support the YES! team’s project. St. Mary’s fountain will be installed by a local plumbing company in the near future.

The students and staff of both schools are excited to have the hydration stations available for use for clean, filtered water and easy use for water bottle filling.
