  • Monday was a difficult day to be at the office, not just for myself but the rest of the crew as well.

When I arrived early, I detected a definite chill in the air. A chill to the tune of only 46 degrees and it felt warmer in the hall than in our office. Quickly a call went out to John for help. I think it was about ten o’clock when a text message came back saying it should begin to warm up again and the furnace was fixed.

In the meantime, small room heaters and coats kept us warm for the rest of the day and finally around four o’clock the office was back to a normal temp. For me, it was already too late. I had been cold for too long and needed something hot to warm me up.

I cranked my little heater on high and kept working until about eight and then finally went home and had hot tomato basil bisque soup. It did the trick and so did the blanket I wrapped up in. While watching Hawaii Five O, I addressed some letters I needed in the mail on Tuesday. Tomorrow would be warmer.

It’s not that we have had an extremely cold winter this year and other years have been much colder, so I’m not sure what the problem is. But whatever it is, I am ready for warmer weather and some vacation time.

Speaking of the cold! The ice was great and the turnout on Sleepy Eye Lake for Sunday’s annual fishing derby sponsored by the Sleepy Eye Sportsman’s Club was a record. According to the guys registering people wanting to fish, there was 777 registered fishermen.

Congratulations to the winners of the contest and those who won prizes. It was a great day and a great turnout.
