  • As we turn the calendar to February, a number of deadlines are approaching. Registration is needed by mid-February for the following outings:
     
    “Mahalia” at the Old Log Theatre on Thursday, Feb. 21 (be sure to indicate your menu choice)
    Home and Garden Show at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Thursday, Feb. 28
     
    “Bye Bye Birdie” at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater on Wednesday, March 13
     
    An outing to Mt. Kato is planned for Saturday, Feb. 23 with sign up due Feb. 19. Anyone 6th grad and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

    The very popular 55 Alive classes will continue with two offerings in February. They will be on Monday, Feb. 11, 5:30-9:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 27, 1-5 p.m.

    The Computers 4 Life class is meeting on Mondays and will have a new series starting on Feb. 4, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Contact Nicole Dummer, 507-354-6750, if you want to take these free classes. Nicole works at the Workforce Center on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and offers the same classes.
     
    Nicole will also be leading a discussion on electronic E-Books and more on Saturday, Feb. 23, 10 a.m.-12 noon. Learn about the Nook, Kindle, iPad, and e-reader.

    A book discussion “Why Say Yes to No?” will be offered in Sleepy Eye on Tuesday evenings beginning Feb. 19, 6-7:30 p.m. The book of the same title by Dr. David Walsh is included in the cost of the series.

    A series of workshops for parents and child care providers will begin on Monday, Feb. 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tipping the Scales: Promoting Nutrition and Physical Activity is the title of the series. Sally Dannenberg is the facilitator and CEU’s will be available.
     
    Other activities for February include the Knitting classes on Friday afternoons, Quilting and Babies class on Saturday, Feb. 23.
