  • The newest Minnesota twins arrived Tuesday morning at Sleepy Eye Medical Center, delivered by Dr. James Joyce.

Parents are Sleepy Eye residents Alexis and Antonio (Tony) Alvarez.

Lukas and Julian join older brother Isaac, who is very excited to have not one, but two brothers to play with in the future.

“We knew we were having twins, of course,” said Alexis. “And even though we knew this, you’re never prepared for the reality."

"We are ready as we can be.” Said Antonio, “I don’t know if ‘prepared’ is the word I’d choose. We had a few false alarms, but this morning it looked like Lukas and Julian were ready. Once we got to the hospital things happened fast.”

The brothers were born just eight minutes apart.

Alexis and Antonio praised Dr. Joyce and the nursing staff. “Everyone did a good job. Dr. Joyce and the nurses were awesome. We are very happy.”

Alexis is employed by NU Telecom and Antonio is employed by Kraft in New Ulm.
