The Sleepy Eye Wide Awakes 4-H Club held their monthly meeting Dec. 16 at the Vogel Arena. There was time for some fun in the holiday season, but also for service.
Instead of exchanging gifts among the members, they decided to Adopt-A-Family in need. Each 4-H family donated a gift basket containing: fruit, movie night items, kid’s games, build-a-sundae, etc. or gifts for the kids in the family.
The Sleepy Eye Wide Awakes 4-H Club members also created 120 holiday door decorations for Divine Providence Community Home and Sleepy Eye Care Center residents.
After the events at the arena, several of the members went to Divine Providence and the Care Center to personally deliver the holiday decorations to the residents. They included the Dan and Mary Hoffmann family, the Keith and Sarah Lendt family and the Doug Rossbach family.
The next meeting for the Wide Awakes will be Jan. 13 and the club members will be making Valentines for Vets who are at the Minneapolis VA Center.
