  • The Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council (PLRAC) and the McKnight Foundation is pleased to present the third Annual Artist Grantee Exhibition funded by (PLRAC) and the McKnight Foundation, Minneapolis.
     
    This group exhibition features Emerging Artist and Fellowship Grantees from 2011. The exhibition is at the Arts Center of Saint Peter, 315 South Minnesota Avenue, from Jan. 11 to Feb. 17, 2013. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1-5 p.m.
     
    Emerging Artist Leo Derkowski of Sleepy Eye will be featured, as well as many others from around the area.
    The public is invited to the opening reception on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. The program starts at 1:30 p.m. with visual artists discussing their work, followed by music and literary readings.
     
    At 2:30 p.m. Irish music by Charlie Heymann; 2:45 p.m. Play excerpt by Tom Barna; 3 p.m. Lorna Rafness; 3:15 p.m. Janet Schultz; and 3:30 p.m., Bluegrass music by James Ihrke.
     
    The Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council has a 21-year history of funding individual artists with grants with funding provided by the McKnight Foundation, Minneapolis. A total of 224 Artist Grants have been awarded from January 1992 through November 2012, by PLRAC.
     
    In 2013, Prairie Lakes will continue to award $1,000 Emerging Artist Grants, the next deadline is Jan. 15, 2013, for the Emerging Artist Letter of Intent and the full application is due on Feb. 1, 2013.
     
    Applications are available on the PLRAC website www.plrac.org. PLRAC serves the nine county area in south central Minnesota. The council administers several grant programs with funds appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature and the McKnight Foundation. In FY 2012 Prairie Lakes awarded 160 arts grants totaling $323,547.
