Shari Hittesdorf has always been a person who wears many hats in the community of Sleepy Eye. For the past 15 years Shari has been the Sleepy Eye Safety Training and Summer Rec Coordinator.
This past year, she decided that she needed to take a step back.
“My job with the ambulance service was getting more demanding and I felt I wasn’t able to do the quality of work that I set for myself in the other areas,” Shari said.
As part of her duties as the Sleepy Eye Safety Training Coordinator, Shari did the monthly trainings that involved going over the facility inspections and conducting drills and training. As Summer Rec coordinator, Shari was involved in coordinating all the activities, hiring and scheduling instructors, securing facilities and overseeing the program to make sure everything ran smoothly.
“I thoroughly enjoyed doing both jobs and I’m not leaving because I didn’t enjoy the work. It really came down to time,” Shari added.
She will, however, stay in the capacity as coordinator for the Sleepy Eye Crisis Management committee. While no one has currently been appointed to take over these positions, Shari said city officials are currently seeking alternatives on how the positions can be managed.
