  • Heavy snow strong winds covered the area this past weekend as a snow band with moderate to heavy snow pushed through the area.
     
    The roads became slick due to the freezing slush and new snow on top of it. Temperatures also went into free-fall, causing icy roads.
     
    All Sleepy Eye Schools started two hours late on Monday, a day which also marked the first below zero temperatures since Feb. 2012.
     
    The Sleepy Eye area received about 6.5 inches of snow during the weekend’s snowfall event. Other area totals include: Redwood Falls, 13 inches; Marshall, 10 inches; Jeffers, seven inches; Mankato, seven inches and Madelia, five inches.
