  • Three students from St. John’s Lutheran School were recognized for their participation in this year’s VFW Patriot's Pen. Participants included from left, Colten Maas, Ben Draper and Chantel Moldan.
     
    This year’s theme was “What Would You Tell The Founding Fathers?” All three students completed a 300 or more word essay and expressed their ideas to our nation’s founding fathers. Colten Maas won first prize and was honored at a gathering by the VFW in which he read his essay and was awarded $75.
     
    He was thankful for the opportunity to present his essay to the veterans and their families. Ben Draper was awarded second prize for $50, and Chantel Moldan was awarded a participation ribbon.
