  • Santa Clause arrived in Sleepy Eye Monday evening on a Sleepy Eye Fire Department fire truck to light up Wooldrick park and begin the holiday season in Sleepy Eye.
     
    Santa’s arrival was the 8th annual Holiday Kick Off sponsored by the Sleepy Eye Retail Association.
    Children and parents were invited to have supper with Santa, sponsored by the Volunteer of America and Sleepy Eye Senior Living Campuses. Families not only ate, but could also snap a picture with santa and receive a gift of two free books for each child in attendance. The books were given away as part of a grant the Sleepy Eye Senior Living campus received for Scholastica and Volunteers of America.
     
    Monday evening Little Miss Hannah Pelzel and Little Mr. Rogelio Briones were crowned. Hannah is the daughter of Bill and Shari Pelzel and Rogelio is the son of Ramira and Silveria Briones.
     
    To ring in the holiday season Americana and SouthPoint Federal Credit Union will be hosting open houses on Friday, Dec. 7. Americana will hold their open house from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and SouthPoint will hold theirs from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
     
    Santa can also be visited at various businesses around Sleepy Eye. On Saturday, Dec. 8 Santa will be at SouthPoint from 8:30 a.m. until noon. On Monday, Dec. 17 he will be at McCabe’s Ace Hardware from 5-7 p.m.
