On Nov. 6, WHILE the whole nation was voting, students at St. John’s in Sleepy Eye were doing the same.

They voted for the President of the United States in a mock election, and also voted for a school president chosen from candidates in grades five through eight.

Mr. Rick’s class took this very seriously, as each candidate chose a running mate to be their hopeful vice president. They also wrote and performed speeches in the days leading up to the final election.

The Principal's Office was converted into a voting booth complete with a curtain. At St. John’s, presidential candidate Mitt Romney won by a landslide–a whopping 81 percent.

The new St. John’s School president and vice president elect are Colten Maas and Matthew Beussman.
