Steven Butler, age 46, of rural St. James died on Saturday, Nov.10, 2012, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Albion Lutheran Church, rural St. James with Rev. Robert Springer officiating. Burial will be at the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church one hour before services on Saturday. You may send the family condolences online at www.sturmfh.com. Steven Robert Butler was born May 9, 1966, at Laramie, Wyo., the son of Jan and Barbara (Nordlund) Butler. He married Wendy Lewis on June 6, 1987 at Hibbing. They lived in Colorado while Steve worked on his Master's Degree and teaching certificate. Steve taught science in the New Ulm school district for 16 years. Steve loved to do orgami, play cards, puzzles, and work on small metal sculptures. He loved music and the muppets.
Steve is survived by his wife; Wendy Butler of St. James; children, Isaiah Butler of St. Paul, Lorena Butler of St. James; parents, Jan and Barb Butler of Greeley, Col., sister, Lara (Kent) Shook of Carpenter, Wyo.; brothers, Tom (Shelley) Butler of Thermopolis, WYyo., Joe (Jackie) Butler of Evans, Col.; grandmother, Bobbie Butler of Thermopolis, Wyo.; great-aunt, Mary White of Lake Crystal; nieces Marissa and Kaylee Shook and Rory Mae Butler and nephews Josiah and Brendan Butler.
Steve was preceded in death by grandparents; Elmer & Mary Nordlund, Charles Butler and aunt; Nancy Hansen.
