Lillian L. Schneider, age 95, of Sleepy Eye, died on November 7, 2012 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, 11:30 am at the Faith United Methodist Church, Sleepy Eye, with Pastor Josh Doughty officiating. Lillian L. Schneider was born on May 25, 1917 near Cobden, the daughter of Henry and Pauline (Guhlke) Meinert. She grew up in Leavenworth Township and attended school in Cobden. Lillian married Rueben Kolbe Schneider on July 11, 1936 at the First United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye. After their marriage they lived and farmed on the family farm in Leavenworth Township until retiring and moving to Sleepy Eye in 1969. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye. Lillian lived at Countryside Retirement Community in Sleepy Eye where she enjoyed the fellowship of the other residents and the many activities they offered as well as the comfortable living. She wintered in Arizona for 20 years. Lillian enjoyed gardening, her chickens, crocheting, knitting, cooking, baking, card playing, listening to old time music, her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Jean (Gary) Schafer of Lamberton, Roger (Cindy) Schneider of Sleepy Eye, Janice (Bill) Maas of Hudson, Wisc., son-in-law, Harvey (Marlys) Deterling of Baudette, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rueben Schneider, daughter, Joann Deterling, brothers, Alvin and Wilbert Meinert and sisters, Laura, Verna and Luella.
