Dear Members of the Sleepy Eye Area Chamber of Commerce
The mission of the Sleepy Eye Area Chamber of Commerce is "to preserve, promote, and encourage participation in business, education, and community growth and development."
The Board of Directors believes that it is consistent with our mission to support education in our community whenever and wherever possible. A strong and viable educational capability provides direct benefits to businesses and residents of the Sleepy Eye area:
Good schools make Sleepy Eye a desirable place to live and work, promote a growing community, and helps recruit and retain experienced and skilled workers.A strong school system helps attract new businesses to Sleepy Eye and creates an environment to promote business health and expansion.A comprehensive school curriculum provides the skilled and trained workers our businesses need to thrive and grow. Therefore, the Sleepy Eye Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted unanimously to support the Independent School District No. 84 operating levy referendum that will increase general education revenue by $500.00 per pupil per year, applicable for five years, unless otherwise revoked or reduced as provided by law.
We respectively request that Chamber members vote "YES" in support of the referendum in the state general election on November 6, 2012. Further, as a business leader and Chamber member, you are in a position to influence others in our community. We hope you will join us in actively supporting this referendum and communicate your support to others. It is important to note that the money raised by the referendum goes directly to our schools. The money stays in Sleepy Eye and supports our schools and our community.
