“Sleepless in America: Is This Child Misbehaving or Missing Sleep?” will be presented on Thursday, Nov. 1, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Nicollet Public School Theatre. Dr. Mary Sheedy Kurcinka will discuss the scientific link between misbehavior and missing sleep, how normal everyday events leave children too tense to sleep and practical tools to help families get the sleep they need and deserve. This is a free workshop.

Sleepy Eye Ambulance Service has a number of classes for CPR and First Aid during the month of November. On Wednesday, Nov. 7, 6:30-9 p.m., Emergency First Aid will be presented. This meets the day care requirement. On Thursday, Nov. 15, 6:30-10:30 p.m., the Lay Rescuer/Non-Healthcare Provider’s CPR will be presented for those needing to update as well as those who have never taken the course. Both of these classes will be held at the Ambulance/Police Garage and to register, call Shari Hittesdorf at 507-794-3116.

Two additional opportunities are available for those wanting the first time 55 Alive class or the renewal class during this calendar year. New offerings will be available in the 2013 year. Certificates are good for three years and provide a 10 percent discount on vehicle insurance.
During the month of November, veterans, spouses and dependents can take the AARP 55 Alive classes free of charge. There is space in the following classes:
First time class on Monday, Nov. 12 and Tuesday, Nov, 13, 5:30-9:30 p.m.
Renewal class on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

ECFE classes continue through most of November. Another Babies class will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
An All Day Quilting class will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Computers 4 Life classes continue and a new session starts every four weeks.
