  • St. Mary’s Catholic School was recently awarded a $30,000 grant from the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. With this grant, St. Mary’s will install an updated communications system through our K-12 school building and superintendent’s offices (located in a separate facility).

The grant monies will be used to purchase the updated communication system for all offices and classrooms and necessary operating equipment for the system’s infrastructure, including 48 digital telephones.

The new communication systems will be installed by New Ulm Telecom in June of 2013 as it is necessary to wait until the conclusion of the school year to begin work. It will be completed by August of 2013 and any needed training for faculty and staff will take place during the school workshops in August. The faculty and staff will begin using the new system during the 2013-2014 school year.

St. Mary’s is extremely excited about this grant and the opportunities to upgrade our communication system.
