Gerald Peterson, 78, of Sleepy Eye died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm North Chapel with Pastor Ric Jacobsen officiating. Gerald Ivan Peterson was born September 17, 1934 in Lamberton Township, Redwood County to Oscar and Beatrice (Harlan) Peterson. He was a graduate of Tracy High School. Gerald was united in marriage to Dianne Olson on March 31, 1962 in St. Paul. After marriage he was employed as a truck driver in the St. Paul, New Ulm Freight Lines in New Ulm, then as a baker, then at Anderson Custom Processing in Sleepy Eye until his retirement. He enjoyed collecting coins, guns, stamps. He also enjoyed playing pool and telling jokes.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Dianne Peterson of Rochester; daughters and son-in-law, Susan Altmann of Sleepy Eye, Shari and Matt Kirkham of Rochester; sons and daughters-in-law, John Peterson of Glencoe, Paul and Lia Peterson of Blooming Prairie; twelve grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and Bob Hyde of Redwood Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug Olson, Glayden and Donna Trytten.
