  • Alice Venero, age 89 formerly of Sleepy Eye died on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Presbyterian Home in Spring Park. Visitation will be on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 from 9:30 to 110 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Burial will be at the Home Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
     
    Alice was born March 5, 1923 in Clements, to Christian F. and Hilda Jeanette (Hansen) Larsen. She was a graduate of Sleepy Eye Public High, class of 1941. Alice loved music. She was a self taught pianist and organist and volunteered her talent for many years at Trinity Lutheran Church  She was also a percussionist in the SEHS band and was a member of the Sleepy Eye community band for many years. Alice was a proud blood donor for many years. Alice also loved to sew. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye and Gethsemene Lutheran Church, St. Louis Park. She created hundreds of quilts and crocheted baby sweaters for missions.
    Alice is survived by sister, Lois Larsen, Woodlyn Heights, loving children, Jane Wester of Eagan; Jeri (Bob) Johns of Rochelle, Ill.; Jay (Dory) Venero of Excelsior; Vicki (Andy) Connell of Coon Rapids; Paula Turner of Vadnais Heights; Mary (John) Evans of Maplewood; 13 grandchildren, Mike (Sherry) Venero, John (Pam) Wester, Susan (Erik) Klevann; Carrie (David) Rolstad, Carrie (Dan) Davis; Holly (Bryan) Kuhn, Laura (Tim) Schue; Emily (Shannon) Ziskovsky; Anne Connell, Kelly Veilleux, Josh Evans, Katie Evans, Hannah Evans: and 17 great-grandchildren: Alex, Andrew, Rachel, and Michael Wester; Davis, Avery and Finley Rolstad; Spencer and Logan Davis; Sydney and Jacob Kuhn; Emma Bailey, Wynne, Russell and Jay Klevann; Mickey Venero; Hunter Evans.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Alfred Beyer and husband of 55 years, Merle F. Venero.
