  • The school year is in full swing as we know by the activity schedule, school pictures being taken, concerts planned and conferences being scheduled. The month of October also gives students two days off on Oct. 18 and 19, due to Education Minnesota Conference for teachers.

  • The school year is in full swing as we know by the activity schedule, school pictures being taken, concerts planned and conferences being scheduled. The month of October also gives students two days off on Oct. 18 and 19, due to Education Minnesota Conference for teachers. Following the break, students who will be 15 by Dec. 1 can pick up an application for classroom Driver’s Education which would take place in November. Thirty hours are required and will be scheduled around activities and practices with the intent of being finished before the winter sports games begin.

    Lots of activities have been planned for Saturday, Oct. 13 in our community. The United Way Day of Caring will happen that morning. as well as the Sleepy Eye Hospital Ladies Morning Out from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. An All Day Quilting class will begin at 8 a.m. and go until 4 p.m. for new or returning students. A Babies class offered by ECFE will happen 9:30-10:30 a.m. and the ECFE Fall Festival will be 2:30-4:30 p.m. The Sleepy Eye Hockey Association is sponsoring a Pasta Feed at the Sleepy Eye Community Center from 4:30-7 p.m.

    Some of the upcoming outings need attention as the deadlines for signing up will soon be here. There is space in the outing to Stillwater on Thursday, Oct. 11. October 16 is the registration deadline for “Perfect Wedding” on Thursday, Oct. 25 at the Old Log Theatre and “Christmas on the Ranch” at the Plymouth Playhouse on Sunday, Nov. 4.

    Those wanting to knit and crochet are invited to come on Friday afternoons when there is school for help reading a pattern, learning some new stitches, or just learning how to do it. The group meets from 3:30-5 p.m. in Room 109 at Sleepy Eye High School.

    Appointments are being made for Early Childhood Screening to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the morning at Trinity Lutheran Church basement. Children who will be four by the end of December have been invited to participate in the fall screening.
