Five things you should know about Lions Club Student of the Month.
1. School Activities
At St. Mary’s School Jessica has been involved in volleyball, cheerleading, basketball, and track. When she’s not involved in an athletic activity, Jessica also finds time to be an A honor student, a member of the student council, on National Honor Society, plays in the band, is in FFA and musical theatre. She has also represented her class in many capacities including vice president and treasurer.
2. Community Involvement
In the community Jessica has been involved with St. Mary’s Church as an alter server. She is also a 12-year member of the 4-H Stark Happy Hustlers, a Food for Kidz volunteer, has volunteered for Operation Christmas Child, was Saint Vincent DePaul Clothing Drive organizer, has volunteered at Divine Providence Bazaar and the St. Mary’s Church festival and is a CHAOS Youth Group Ambassador.
3. Personal Values and Strengths
She feels that she is a person of very high moral character and Christian values who looks for the good in others and tries to provide service to those in need.
“I am a hard worker and I love to take on a challenge,” Jessica said. “With these characteristics I feel that success comes in everyday life. As an organizer of a Saint Vincent DePaul winter clothing drive for the last three Christmas seasons, I have seen success as the community comes together to provide comfort to the less fortunate in the state of Minnesota,” she added.
4. Greatest Influence in Life
The greatest influence in Jessica’s life has been her grandpa, E. Peter Schmitz.
“Growing up he taught me that the most important part of my life is faith,” Jessica said. “Through his actions I have been influenced to grasp my faith and live it in my everyday life.”
5. Post-Graduation Plans
After high school graduation, Jessica plans to attend a four-year liberal arts college pursuing a degree in computer science, engineering or physics.
