As I look from my desk at the small window to the tree line just to the southeast, I can see the sun coming up and ready to blanket our community with bright warmth. I wonder to myself how many more days like this will there be before the cold white blankets us? Hopefully there are many and fall, leading into Old Man Winter, is extended to enjoy the cool nights and warm days.

As September rolls to a close in just a few short days, it brings with it the annual Great Grassroots Gathering in Allison Park. Sunday, Sept. 30 is the date for the annual event. And, while Grassroots has been going on for many years, I believe I have only attended it one time. Crazy? I know! There has always been something going on that weekend for me that didn’t allow me to attend. My hope this year is to be able to take in the event and get some good ideas or gifts for this all-to-soon Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, I spent the day Saturday with Jess and the kids and that evening we all, including Justin, went out for supper for their fifth anniversary.

We had a great day together and I got a couple of ideas for Christmas gifts for the kids and will need to go online to get them.

Now you may wonder why would I have to go online to get them? I really cannot get this item in Sleepy Eye. With Caitlin and Isaac beginning school, I want to get them something educational. Not just a game or toy that may hold their attention, but something they can learn from.

It isn’t even electronic. Each child picked out a magazine they would like to get in the mail. So that is one of the ideas to help their little minds continue to learn and grow.

Don’t forget Grassroots this weekend! You might be able to find a gift or two for your Christmas list. Maybe I’ll see you there!
