Please do not give bank account or other personal information over the phone to an unknown caller. Many scam artists use fake phone numbers that show up on caller id  appearing to be from another agency. The Federal Government, including Medicare, the IRS or Social Security DOES NOT call people on the phone for personal information, nor does your local bank.  If you receive these types of calls, please do not give the information. If you willingly give out your information, criminal charges against the caller are not always possible. The calls should also be reported to your local law enforcement agency.
