During the Sleepy Eye Fire Department open house, lunch was served by the firemen. Picture displays were set up and tours were given of both the firehall and the trucks. The fireman were on hand to answer questions.
The Schells Hobo band from New Ulm was on hand Saturday to help the Sleepy Eye Fire Department commemorate 125 years of service. An open house was held at the fire hall from noon until 3 p.m. with displays of past and present events and tours of the firehall.
Sitting outside at the Sleepy Eye Fire Department open house were all the rigs the fireman use to fight fires. Each rig was opened so that the general public could see what each truck looked like and equipment it held.
The 1921 LaFrance fire truck, now in retirement, comes out for special occasions like this one and to drive in the Buttered Corn Days parade.
