Paul Eugene Bertrand was a wonderful husband, father to three, entertaining grandpa and great-grandpa. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 28, 2012. Paul was born on Aug. 13, 1936, to Ambrose and Margaret in New Ulm. He grew up in the town of Sleepy Eye, and then served in the U.S. Navy. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Mae Jamieson, and they traveled to the northwest to build a happy life together. For many years, he worked as a machinist at Tam Engineering.
With a focus on the good things in life, Paul worked hard in his beautiful yard and garden and bringing the vegetables and herbs he grew into the kitchen, where he loved to cook and also share with others. He thrived on the outdoors and camping with friends and family. He was creative and successful at everything he accomplished in life. He always had the right advice like challenges were meant to be overcome and life was meant to be lived to its fullest. His thoughtfulness and golden heart will always be in our hearts, and he will be missed and loved every day.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gethsemane Cemetery for Paul who is survived by his son, Shawn; daughters, Melody and Brenda; mother, Margaret; brothers, John and Eugene; sister, Diane; many grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
