  • A lazy weekend at last

Well this last one happened to be spent with Mom. She had been feeling neglected by the lack of times visiting so far this year. Things have just gotten, well, a bit hectic over the last year. Needing to be here, wanting to go there or another there or another there, could leave a person cutting themselves into three of four sections to be in all the places we’d like to be at once.
The same could be said for the second weekend of August. I would like to be three different places and whatever the decision, or direction I travel, someone will feel left out. Why does everything have to fall on the same weekend?
Anyway, there wasn’t much going on so I decided to head home and pay a long overdue visit to Mom. She had something going on Friday night so we stopped in at the Alberta bar and had supper and caught up with my cousin and her husband. We got in the usual laughs and after a while decided it was time to move on.
Once at Mom’s, it was pretty quiet. I think the Golden Girls were playing their nightly reruns on TV.
Saturday we woke to beautiful sunshine and much more milder temps. A perfect day to spend outside doing nothing. We spent the afternoon on the lawn under the big maple tree and sipped something cool while visiting with my niece and her husband to be. What a life! I could get used to those quiet and relaxing afternoons. Supper was made on the grill and then we decided to go to the cemetery and pay a visit to dad, grandpa and grandma. It is always so serene out there. After a short visit to them and more extended family we spent more quiet time on the deck enjoying the evening and the sun going down.
Sunday came all too soon and it was time to head home. Things to do and more places to go, but a relaxing weekend just the same. It really was a lazy weekend.
Thought for the week: Put yourself in competition with yourself each day. Each morning look back upon your work of yesterday and then try to beat it. – Harry S. Truman.
