  • Carmen J. (Scott) Eckstein, age 45, of rural Morgan, died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at her home. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Friends may call on the family from 8 -10 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.     Carmen Joann Eckstein was born on September 15, 1966 in New Ulm, to Eldren and Malonie (Kuehn) Rueckert. She grew up and attended school in New Ulm. She married Scott Eckstein on December 22, 1989 in New Ulm. Carmen was a homemaker but worked as a nursing assistant at Divine Providence and made pizzas at Casey's for a few years. Carmen enjoyed her grandson, Riley, spending time on the computer, needlework, gardening and collecting cows.
    She is survived by her husband, Scott Eckstein of Morgan; sons, Joshua (Alissa) of Sleepy Eye and Nathan of Morgan; mother, Malonie Rueckert of New Ulm; grandson, Riley; siblings, Robert (Cynthia) Rueckert of New Ulm, Catherine (Allen) Hoffman of New Ulm, Karen (Rod) Sanchez of New Ulm, Christine (Robert) Meier of New Ulm, James Rueckert of New Ulm; mother-in-law, Carol Eckstein of Sleepy Eye; brothers-in-law, James Lingenhag of San Antonio, Texas, Brad (Linda) Eckstein of Sleepy Eye, Mark (Jean) Eckstein of New Ulm, David Eckstein of Sleepy Eye; nieces, Sarah (Jeremy) Alford, Ashley Hoffman, Seryne Mullins, Hollie Sanchez, Bobby Jo Eckstein; nephews, Jacob, Jayden and Taylor Rueckert, Dustin Lingenhag, Dereck Sanchez, Travis Meier and special friend, Lindsae Braun, Ben Meier, Tim (Ashley) Meier, Brad "Junior" Eckstein; great nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
    She was preceded in death by her father, Eldren Rueckert; brother-in-law, SSG Kevin Witt; paternal and maternal grandparents; and father-in-law, Charles Eckstein.
