In Sleepy Eye there is an ongoing project to say thank you to our local veterans past and present. Veteran’s park is in the process of being built on the former location of Hose Hardware. I cannot think of a more fitting use for a piece of property.
You can be a part of this project with financial contributions in memory of, or in honor of someone special. All donations to the park will be remembered at the level they were donated and currently in Phase I, there is a matching fund dollar-for-dollar from the L.A. Amundson Family Philanthropy Partnership through First Security Bank. They have graciously committed $13,000 of matching funds toward the Phase I project. So when you give a donation, no matter what the cash amount, it is like giving double because they are matching it up to $13,000.
This July 4th, Independence Day 2012, consider a thank you donation to veterans park and say thank you to our local veterans. It is an amazing project we can all be extremely proud of. Contact Kurk Kramer at the EDA if you would like more information on donating.
Thought for the week: The best portion of a good person’s life is the little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love.–William Wordsworth.
