Indians edge the Grizzlies 10-9; comeback victory takes the Orioles 5-4.

Sleepy Eye Indians 10 Searles Grizzlies 9

The Indians faced the Searles Grizzlies in an away game Sunday night edging the Grizzlies 10-9. Sleepy Eye’s Joey Walter started the action, belting a home run for a 1-0 lead. The Indians scored again in the second inning when Scott Salfer drove in Matt Gangelhoff with a single. Sleepy Eye scored three more runs in the third, paced by a two-run home run by Andrew Woitas. Searles answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Indians offense kept the pressure on in the fourth inning with three runs on back-to-back base hits by Alan Woitas and Jake Bohnen. The Indians had a 9-5 lead at the end of the fifth and held off a Searles comeback to notch the win. The Indians are now 9-6 and have moved back into second place in the division. Nathan Kral got the save and the win for the Indians.

Orioles 4

The Indians completed a season sweep of the Leavenworth Orioles at home Friday night winning 5-4 in a comeback victory. Andrew Woitas went eight innings giving up 3 runs, 2 earned with 5 strikeouts. Sean Mathiowetz got his second save of the season, relieving Woitas in the ninth inning to wrap up the victory. Mathiowetz also hit a two-run triple and then scored on an error to make the score 3-5 in the sixth inning. Leading the Indians offensively, along with Mathiowetz, was Landon Zinniel who went 2-3 with an RBI double.

Gibbon Reds 13

It got ugly fast Wednesday night when the visiting Gibbon Reds put up seven runs in the first inning and cruised to an easy 2-13 win. The Reds’ Kyle Maurer threw a seven inning 10-run rule complete game and scattered eight Indians' hits. Sleepy Eye had chances to put up some runs, but couldn’t take advantage of the runners on base. Timely hitting just wasn’t on the agenda. Joey Walter was 3-for-5 with a triple, Nolan Helget 2-for-3 with a walk and Sean Mathiowetz 1-for-3 with a RBI.
