  • The Sleepy Eye Public girls golf team and Mikail Sellner of St. Mary’s headed to Pebble Creek in Becker to participate in the State High School Golf Tournament June 12 and 13.
    Sleepy Eye found themselves in fourth place, after the first day of the tournament. Just one stroke separated the fourth place Indians and third place Legacy Christian Academy. The Indians shot, 93-93-96-98-103-114 on day one and the top four scores were used to calculate the day’s total of 380.
    On day two, the Indians managed to climb their way into third place by shooting 85-97-98-100-109-113, which matched their first day total of 380, giving the Indians an overall stoke count of 760.
    In the end it was Lewiston-Altura leading the way and bringing home the title with an overall score of 709. Lincoln HI brought home second with 724.
    Leading the way for the Indians was Emily Curtis with 183 overall. Carissa Hillmer shot a combined 191 for the two days. Karrah Remus and Lauren Laffen both shot a 193. Anna Ibberson finished the tournament at 212. And Aileen Roman rounded things out with 227.
