  • Sunday is Father’s Day and for those of you who still have your dad, you have no idea how lucky you are.
For those of us who don’t have our Dads in the physical presence, but have wonderful memories, we have something special too.
Boy... Dad, if I could see you one more time, I would give you the biggest lecture about taking care of your heart and  yourself. And, in the next breath I would tell you just how much I love you and miss you.
Hey Dad, you probably already know this because of your vantage point in Heaven, you saw your new great-granddaughter be born Tuesday morning. I can just see your face as you are smiling down at Brad and telling him what a wonderful grandpa he is and thinking to yourself how proud you are of him.
You know Dad, it’s because he is so much like you. Than you would give Amber a hug and a kiss congratulating her on being a new mommy again. You were always so good with the babies and the little ones. I remember one time when the girls and I were on our way home to visit you and Mom. We were just about to Carlson’s Corner and Jessica popped up and said, “Grandpa’s little darlings are almost here.”
We got a good chuckle about that didn’t we Dad! That was a joke for so many years. Dad, you remember all those birds you liked to feed around the yard, you were always delighted by the number of bright colored finches that showed up. But what even amazed you more, was the number of different birds Jodi and Gary got on their deck just outside the kitchen where we would sit and watch them while we drank our morning coffee.
Speaking of coffee, Dad, I still keep your plain black coffee in the freezer. Someone else likes plain coffee too now. None of that fancy flavored stuff or coffee with cream in it. I laugh every time I think of it. You always could make me laugh.
Well Dad, just like our phone conversations would come to an end, my space is coming to an end too. Dad, I just wanted you to know I think of you everyday and wanted to wish you a Happy Father’s Day on Sunday. No one will ever take your place and I will always be your girl.
You were such a strong role model with a quiet faith and the best dad a little girl could ever ask for. I love you Dad and I’ll see you again some day. We’ll talk again soon! P.S... your still my hero.
