Angeline "Angie" Haala, 86, of New Ulm died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, May 7, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles with Monsignor John A Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Sunday and 7:30 - 9:30 AM Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mother's Society will pray the rosary at 4 PM Sunday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Angeline Sophia Roiger was born November 20, 1925 in Springfield to Joseph and Katie (Sturm) Roiger. She was united in marriage to Wilbert Haala on August 12, 1944 at Fort Pierce, Florida. They farmed their entire married life in Sigel Township, Brown County. Angie enjoyed crocheting, gardening, sewing, fishing, playing cards, bowling, square dancing, the Minnesota Twins and spending time with family. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles, Christian Mother's Society and the St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth's United Catholic Council.
Angie is survived her daughters and sons-in-law, Lynette Huiras of New Ulm, Joyce and Robert Mickelson of Sleepy Eye, Marlys and Jim Dyvig of St. Louis Park, Carol and Pat Haubrich of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Donna Haala of Madison Lake, Mike and Shirley Haala, Paul and Cheryl Haala, Robert Haala and Amy Steinhaus, all of New Ulm; 25 grandchildren; and by 41 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbert Haala Sr. on August 14, 2011; a son, Wilbert Haala Jr.; grandchildren, Lee Haala, Tracy Huiras and baby Mickelson; and by her brothers, Otto, Arthur, LeRoy and Raymond Roiger.
