Harold C. Schmid, 84, of New Ulm died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. Joseph's-St. Elizabeth's Catholic United Council will pray the rosary at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Harold Charles Schmid was born March 11, 1928 in New Ulm to George and Alma (Wilfahrt) Schmid. He attended school at District #15 in Milford Township. Harold farmed his entire life on the family farm in Milford Township. He enjoyed playing cards, farming, Sunday drives and family get togethers. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the St. Joseph's - St. Elizabeth's Catholic United Council.
Harold is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Wallace Wendinger of New Ulm; and by his nieces and nephews, Donald (Karen) Wendinger of Gibbon, David (Ann) Wendinger, Sharon (Pete) Brandel, Barb (Andy) Gulden, Kathy (Craig) Larson, all of New Ulm, Larry Helget, Ron (Gloria) Helget, Mary Ann Krebs, Linda (Scott) Peterson and Lori (Tom) Deibele, all of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Vernard Helget.
