  • John A. "Jack" Gangelhoff, age 86, of Sleepy Eye, died on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

  • John A. "Jack" Gangelhoff, age 86, of Sleepy Eye, died on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye on Sunday  from  3 to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 7:30 to 10 a.m. There will be a Paraish Prayer Service at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye on Monday, April  9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. The Clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski, Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with Military rites by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family via www.sturmfh.com. Memorials preferred to St. Mary's School, St. Mary's Church, or Divine Providence Nursing Home, all in Sleepy Eye.
    John A. Gangelhoff, the son of Walter and Florence (Bromback) Gangelhoff was born on May 9, 1925 in St. Cloud. His family moved to Minneapolis where he graduated from Central High School. He served in the army from 1946 to 1947. On June 13, 1953, he married Florence Hellmann in Almena, Wisconsin. In their 58 years of marriage, they raised five children. He worked most of his life as a salesman selling Catholic publications. His most recent, the St. Anthony Messenger, until he retired. Jack loved his family, home, and faith. He also loved to visit with people and enjoyed a good laugh. He brought smiles to many faces by his jokes and stories.  
    Survivors include his wife, Florence, of Sleepy Eye;l children, Dave (Teresa) Gangelhoff, South St. Paul, Joan (Dennis) Dording, Winthrop, Greg (Mary) Gangelhoff, Sleepy Eye, Mike (Betsy) Gangelhoff, Hastings, and Dan (Tami) Gangelhoff, New Ulm.  He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Engholdt, Milwaukee, Wisc., Joe (Barb) Hellmann, Ray (Sue) Hellmann and Frank (Fern) Hellmann, Anoka.
    He was preceded in death by his grandchild, Stacy Dording; parents, Florence and Walter; and his siblings, Clarence, Arold and Joseph Gangelhoff, Loretta Engholdt, Leona Coulombe, Florence  Hedenland; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Elizabeth Hellmann; sister-in-law, Bernie Roux and brother-in-law, Paul Hellmann.
