  • When you are away from work for a few days it doesn’t matter what you are doing... the days fly by like a streak of lightening goes acrosss the sky. That’s just how fast vacation went last week.
A week of sunny skies and temps in the 80s! Who could have asked for better weather? No one.
In a mere six days, we took in a lot of sun, ate great food, watched exciting softball, saw a Twins baseball game, observed gators large and small, touched a young gator, petted a python snake, took an airboat (swamp boat) ride, swam in the ocean, went on a hot air balloon ride, watched the Shamu whale show at SeaWorld, and did I mention ate, a lot, and threw back a cold beverage or two along the way?
As much fun as all that was and the company was pretty fun too, it’s good to be home to a routine... work, eat, sleep and add a walk or run in for good measure! Doesn’t that routine sound exciting... Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t trade that week away from work for anything! It was a week in paradise with no worries or cares.

Cabins coming to Sportsman’s Park is an exciting addition to the amenities  Sleepy Eye has to offer visitors to our community.
I was more than happy to hear the discussion during Tuesday’s city council meeting. Bravo to the council for looking ahead to what they will mean for additional park revenue.
Much thought and preparation has gone into the two cabins to be constructed by our Parks Dept. And, the fact they will be able to be rented year ’round is even better.
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, come to Allison Park for the Breaking the Ice 5K/10K walk/run and support suicide prevention in our soldiers.
I am excited to participate in this event with my soldier daughter, Dina. We are teaming up to support this great mission. Challenge yourself and join us.
Thought for the week: Stumbling is not a bad thing. It means you were on the move, instead of sitting down doing nothing. – George Pataki.
