Robert Sucker, 87 of Sleepy Eye, Minn. died Monday, March 05, 2012, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 8, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 9, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with burial and Military Honors at Home Cemetery. Robert Charles Sucker was born on July 16, 1924 in Sleepy Eye, the son of Benjamin and Mayme (Wolf) Sucker. He was baptized on July 25, 1923, confirmed on April 10, 1938, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. He graduated from Sleepy Eye Public School in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII stationed in Europe for 33 months. Robert was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. He was united in marriage to Inez Hale on December 23, 1945 in Framingham, Mass. Bob worked for his father from 1946 until 1957 when he took over his father’s plumbing and heating business. Robert was a long standing member of the Sleepy Eye Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his sons; David and wife Kathy of Sleepy Eye, Donald and wife Rosemary of Lakeville, and Dean and wife Barbara of Roy, Utah; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife – Inez; brother – Roy; and sisters – Lucille Roiger, Dorothy Seifert and Pearl Fischer.
