James Edward Duscher, 88, of Sleepy Eye, Minn. died on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
James Edward Duscher, 88, of Sleepy Eye, Minn. died on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 from 9 to 11 a.m. Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. The Clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. James Edward Duscher was born on December 9, 1923 on the family farm near Gilfillan to William F. and Mary (Welter) Duscher. James attended county school and Redwood Falls Public School. Following his education, James worked with his father doing landscaping and various other jobs. He was united in marriage to LuVerne Otto on April 24, 1946 in Redwood Falls. They raised seven children. Jim and his family moved to Sleepy Eye in 1959 where Jim delivered Oak Grove Dairy products for awhile and then worked at the Orchid Inn as a chef. In 1968 they moved to Faribault. Jim became employed at St. Paul Academy as head chef working there until his retirement in 1989. They moved back to Sleepy Eye in the fall of 1989 where they enjoyed their retirement. Jim enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and camping at various lakes in Minnesota with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Patty (Doyle) Sellner of Sleepy Eye, Sister Marya Duscher of Jonesboro, Ariz., Barb (Roger) Holmes of Rosemount, and Joleen Krueger of Clearlake; a son, Ronald (Vickie) Duscher of Faribault; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Delores (Elmer) Hartwig of N. Mankato; and several nieces, nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LuVerne; daughters, Lori Duscher and Linda Reineke; brothers, Ed, LeRoy, Raymond, and William; and sisters, Rose Malecha, Norma Honzay, and Maryann Donner.
