Mark Weber has been bowling for 40 years, but reaching the high series record for Sleepy Eye Lanes caused a bit of a stir recently.
Weber bowls for ABC Bowling Association out of New Ulm in the Men’s Classic League.
His record breaking high score series was 733. He bowled a 248 for his first game, 257 for the second and 228 on the third.
“I was a little nervous until the fourth frame,” Weber explained. “I?had a spare and then four in a row and I?knew I?had it.”
Before his record high series, Weber had bowled a 695.
“I’m really glad I was bowling with Dale Schottle,” Weber said. “We’ve been bowling together for years.”?
Weber’s accomplishment marks only the 11th 700 series to have ever been bowled on Sleepy Eye Lanes since 1957, when it was called Berdan Lanes.
Others who hold the title with Weber include Kenny Schumacher and Andy Lochner, who have both been named to the 700 series multiple times.
Mark Weber’s name will join the elite on a plaque that hangs in Sleepy Eye Lanes.
