Dianne Kienlen age 67 of Fairfax passed away on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at the Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls.


Dianne Kienlen age 67 of Fairfax passed away on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at the Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax, with interment in St. George Catholic Cemetery. Father Jeffrey Horejsi will officiate the services. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Arrangements are being handled by Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Dianne Cheryl (Steffl) Kienlen was born Dec. 15, 1943 in Sleepy Eye. She was the daughter of Harold and Beatrice (Barnes) Steffl. Dianne was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Sleepy Eye.

On Nov. 15, 1961, Dianne was united in marriage to Fred Kienlen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After their marriage, the couple resided in Ridgely Township, and worked together on the farm. She also worked at Boyum’s Clothing in Fairfax and Fairfax Variety. Dianne and Fred would have shared 50 years together in November. They were blessed with five children.

Dianne was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax and was active with the Christian Mother’s, the quilting circle and the church FunFest. Dianne enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking, pies were her specialty, cooking, canning pickles, making jelly, reading novels and making blankets and teddy bears for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Dianne is survived by her husband, Fred Kienlen of Fairfax. Children; Jeff (Erika) Kienlen of Anchorage, Alaska; Pat (Dawn) Kienle; Carol (Rich) Weikle; Kathy (Pat) Sellner all of Fairfax; and Mary (Tony) Klick of Raymore, Mo. Grandchildren; Taryn (Cory) Barber, Sarah (Jeremie) Reinhart, Kurt Weikle, Katie Sellner, Brent Weikle, Andrew Kienlen, Jonathan Sellner, Megan Kienlen, Alex Sellner, Brendan Kienlen and Emma Kienlen. Great-grandchildren; Cormac Barber, Raice Reinhart, Otto Reinhart, and Keegan Portner. Siblings; Barb Riebel of Bloomington; Leo (Grace) Steffl, Greg Steffl all of Sleepy Eye; David Steffl of Waverly, Tenn.; and Tom (Sheila) Steffl of Newton, Kans. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry (Lorraine) Kienlen of Basking Ridge, N.J.; Jane Moldaschel of Sleepy Eye; Karen (Dennis) Weitzenkamp of Winthrop; Val (Jim) Toddy of Klamath Falls, Ore.; Ken Kienlen of North Mankato; Lucy (Tom) Robertson of Eden Prairie; Sara (Hank) Kolb  of Sylvania, Ohio; Mary (Mark) Nosbush of Eagan; Chuck Heidemann of Shelton, Wash.; Marilyn Steffl of Faribault, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Beatrice Steffl; stepfather, Otto Schottenbauer; father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Valine (Maxwell) Lienlen; sister, Mary Heidemann; brother, James Steffl; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim Moldaschel, Charles Kienlen, Wilbert Kienlen, Ruth (Sylvester) Zilka, Bonnie Kienlen and Neil Riebel.
