          The Sleepy Eye Post 7 Legion team won their first game of the summer on June 10 when they hosted New Ulm Gold.

          He did it in basketball, now he’s done it in baseball.
          SEAN MATHIOWETZ WAS named the 2013 Tomahawk Conference Player of the Year in baseball. He also made it on the All-Section Baseball Team for Class 1A. He helped lead the Knights to a 20-3 record this season.

          It’s of no surprise that Karrah Remus, Lauren Laffen and Emily Curtis are talented. They have led the Sleepy Eye Public girls golf team to many victories this season. But on June 11, the trio will be taking their game to a whole new level as they compete for a state title.
          THE TRIO OF Lauren Laffen, Karrah Remus and Emily Curtis will be competing at the Section 2A state golf tournament on June 11-12 at Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course. The three have been dominant throughout this season and have led the Sleepy Eye Public girls golf team to many first place victories.

        • Sleepy Eye Unified track struggles in section meet Jun. 5, 2013
          It was a fun but difficult day for the Sleepy Eye Unified track team on June 1.
          SENIOR MARIO GOMEZ kept a steady pace during the 1600 meter run at the Track and Field Section 2A Championship on June 1 in Mankato. Gomez took fifth place in the run and will not be advancing to the State meet, but has an incredible season for the Sleepy Eye Unified track team. He has had many first place finishes this year.

          St. Mary’s baseball season is now over, after they lost to Mankato Loyola on June 1 in the section 2A playoffs.
          A COLLISION OCCURRED at home plate between junior Mike Hirsch and a Mankato Loyola player on June 1 at Franklin Rogers Field in Mankato. The Crusaders defeated the Knights 6-2 in the Section 2A playoff.

          The Indians baseball season was brought to an end on May 25 after they lost to the Warriors 0-10 in their one and only Section 2A playoff game this year.

          An exciting game took place on May 28 for St. Mary’s second Section 2A playoff game.
          JORDAN ANDERSON REACHED out for a ball in attempt to tag out a base runner trying to steal second at the game on May 28 in Sleepy Eye. The Knights won 2-1 after nine innings.

          The Indians girls golf team brings their record to 31-1 after they defeated BLHS and New Ulm Cathedral on May 21 in New Ulm.

          The season is over for the Sleepy Eye Public softball team after the Indians lost to the Tigers on May 21.
        • SEU girls place second in Sub-Section track meet May. 29, 2013
          The Sleepy Eye United girls track and field team continue to succeed. The team competed in the Sub-Section track meet on May 23 in Lake Crystal where they placed second, only 9.5 points behind GSL.

          The impressive season for the St. Mary’s softball team is now over, after they lost to their rival Greyhounds in the Section 2A quarterfinals.
          SENIOR MOLLY SCHWARTZ reached out in an attempt to catch a ball hit deep into center field by New Ulm Cathedral at the playoff game on May 23 in Sleepy Eye. The Greyhounds won 5-1.

          SENIOR MADDY HELGET hits a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game 5-5 on May 16 in Sleepy Eye. It was Helget’s first high school career home run. The Knights defeated Martin County West 7-6.
        • Indians split MVL doubleheader, end regular season with win May. 22, 2013
          Game 1: Minnesota Valley Lutheran 5, Sleepy Eye Public 4; Game 2: Sleepy Eye Public 10, MVL 0 The Chargers hosted the Sleepy Eye Public baseball team for a doubleheader on May 16. The Indians broke down in the seventh inning and gave MVL a conference victory. 
          HEAD COACH AARON Nesvold and assistant coach John Hirschboeck posed for a photo before the game on May 21. Hirschboeck was given the 2013 Don Boelter Award, which is given to a person who shows concern, care, and passion for Sleepy Eye Indians baseball. The Indians defeated Mankato Loyola 5-4 after eight innings.

          The Knights now share the title of Tomahawk Conference Champions with Springfield after they beat New Ulm Cathedral on May 20 in Sleepy Eye.
          SENIOR MITCH NEID runs into New Ulm Cathedral’s first baseman when rounding the base on May 20 during the first game of the doubleheader. Neid went 2-3 at bat and scored two runs for the Knights.
        • SEU girls claim fifth straight conference championship May. 22, 2013
          They did it again. The Sleepy Eye United girls track and field team won first place at the Tomahawk Conference meet on May 16, making them the 2013 Tomahawk Conference Champions for the fifth year in a row.

          SLEEPY EYE PUBLIC sophomore Wyatt Kosmatka lined up for a putt on hole two at Sleepy Eye Golf Course on May 16. The boys team took a close second place in the meet and Kosmatka shot a 45. Kosmatka was named an All-Conference honorable mention for the 2013 season.
